Mars Volta - Televators
brace yourself
i dont know what's going on lately. is it the change in weather? the change in daylength? maybe it's just a coincidence. or MAYBE its just that everyone is getting over that post-new-year-hopefulness and into the my-year-has-ALREADY-gone-to-shit slump.
whatever it is, something is NOT right. something doesn't feel good, and it hasn't for a long time. you're tired all the time. you force yourself to go out for your own sake. you want to sit and just cry. you want to be a lump on the couch. you're frustrated with yourself and others and your moods swing high and low faster than you can say manic-depressive. sound familiar? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!
a lot of my friends feel this way, and i'm no exception. hopefully it's a transitory feeling, but what the heck. i was talking with my little brother the other day and he told me about this psychological term which means that your personality changes according to environment ie. people. hm. but are we all bringing each other down? methinks no.
so what is it? i know a lot of my friends are bummed about relationship crap. i hate that kind of crap. it sticks to you for a long time and starts to make you smell bad and then people dont want to talk with you for fear of getting the crap on them too. it's the worst! but i also know people who are bummed because of worrying about the future. i guess relationship crap falls into this category too, but... whatever. i know people who are stressing about grad schools, college, jobs.... uncertainty is for SUCKS, and no one likes being a suck.
are we expecting too much? i see this quote a lot-- something like "expectation is the root of frustration". or something. but gosh, that would be awfully depressing, to live expecting the worst-- eventually you'd become bitter and cynical. i dont know, that's just not my style. but i've seen myself inching in that direction and i dont like it.... grrrrr.
