versus revisited after watching versus a second time, and actually staying awake through the whole thing, i'm going to have to reevaluate my initial review of the movie. first of all, though the plot is definitely lacking, and character development is non-existent, the action was not as bad as i thought. watching it the second time, and not having to worry about missing plot points (what plot points?) i was able to enjoy the movie for what it really was-- an action movie packed with all things cool about action movies-- reincarnation, samurai, guns, demented yakuza, zombies, girls with guns, pseudo-vampires, decapitation, martial arts, severed hands, funny cops, human sacrifice, leather jackets, dark sunglasses, big ass swords, and asian guys on wires. and tak sakaguchi is a nice addition to the mix too. yay tak. yay yay yay. so when i watched it again, with the understanding that it was nothing but a big action-fest hell-bent on becoming the biggest piece of fanservice for lovers of action flicks, i enjoyed it much much more.
