the darkness

they are "...so fucking rock it's positively painful."
the darkness is my lastest musical obsession. i heard this uk band on the radio the other day. something about "touching you, touching me". at first i thought it was a cheesy song, but after hearing it again, and hearing the band talk on the radio i was intrigued and hooked. at the time i forgot the name of the band, and i tried googling it to figure out who they were. with only "uk band" and the name of the radio station as keywords i finally came across the darkness' website. and their videos. and their bios.

they are awesome. they're cheeky and funny and have a knack for putting the fun back in rock. right now there's so much sad rock and angry rock that its pretty refreshing to hear people have fun with music. they sound like light 80's metal with a dash of queen and a pinch of the sass of david lee roth, complete with mustaches, long hair, catsuits, and tight pants. "growing on me" and "i believe in a thing called love" are my favorites from their first album "permission to land". i've probably annoyed some of my friends with these songs since i've played them so much-- i think they must know the melodies, track numbers, and guitar riffs by heart by now. but i'm sure they're better for it. check them out! go to their website and click on the videos section! HILARIOUS! get down with yout happy rock self. OH YEAH the darkness ROCKS!
