sick again
i think i have the flu. i'm achy, have a fever, and i get chills. gross. last night i woke up at least 10 times while i was sleeping, and before i went to bed, i was trying to read for a class, and the words started changing. AND it's SPRING BREAK! i can't even do work! i hate being sick.

is teleportation coming within my lifetime? probably not, but it's come a lot farther than i'd originally imagined. i hadn't read this until last night, and all the information i'm about to give comes from this article.
anyways, in 1993, physycist Charles Bennett proposed that teleportation would be possible, but only if the original object were destroyed. in 1998 physicists at CalTech were experimenting in teleporting a photon, or particle of light. what has to happen is the information of the structure of the photon must be determined, and then that info must be transported and a replica of that photon must be created. then the original photon would be destroyed.
SO, human teleportation would require that you know every aspect of the trillions upon trillion of atoms in the human body, then take that info, rebuild the body somewhere else and destroy the original. essentially, a clone would be made. in addition, scientists speculate that memories and emotions would be digitized to ensure that the teleported clone would still be the "same" person as the original human.
what all this means is that the original "you" would DIE, and then you would be rebuilt, somewhere else, with all your memories intact. sounds fun. i wonder if it would hurt?
