trick or treat?
so i went to castro for halloween-- who didn't? and it was a helluva time... first off, i tried to coordinate something with my best bud becky, but she already had people to go with, so i just said i'd follow her and we'd be able to meet up. like duh, that was stupid. i dont know what made me think that would work, but well... it just didn't. so i went with my friends from inspire but then, on the way there, the stupid bart train broke down, so we had to get off about 6 stops too early and walk from the montgomery station to the castro district... what i think was something like 20 blocks. i probably wouldn't have minded so much had i been wearing comfy shoes and carrying a bottle of water--unfortunately, i was wearing my ugly fushia dress and pointy black boots that are about half a size too small. anyways, we (we being, me, fellow coords cameron and judy, and my friend jordt, plus a whole mess of his friends) finally make it up to castro, only to get grabbed by a group of idiotic "smooth talkers" . by then i just wanted to leave and go home and sleep in my nice bed and take off the damn boots. alas, we stick around for a couple hours (saw homo-robotics--very cool robots with lights-- and some guy flash us with rubber-- uh, stuff) till we all decide we've had enough. only no bart trains are running back. no problem, right? we can take a bus, or get a cab, or something. unfortunately, like i described to many a person asking about my halloween night, by this time, everybody and their mom was trying to get out of SF and there was no way we'd be able to get out of there on four wheels. so. we decided to bart out. only bart wont start for another two hours. easy. we'll get something to eat. amazingly, we meet up with becky and get to denny's

desserts meta-phor two?
once we were at denny's, our motley crew sits there for about 30 minutes until someone FINALLY decides to take our orders. terrible terrible service! anyways, it DID give me enough time to contemplate my food options. tasty tasty. i wanted a look at the dessert menu and i was torn between the apple pie thing and the oreo cookie pie...so delish... but i love apple pie. it's so... all american-- in a good sort of way ^_^ comfy, familar, something you can count on... apple pie and ice cream-- shoot-- it's just GOOD... and in a way it's a little out of the norm for me, because i usually go for something chocolatey, but apple pie and ice cream and it just looks soooo delish in the menu and you know it would be great.... ohhh yum. and, i suppose, it's the "healthier" of the two choices, tho obviously, neither can be very healthy. okay so the other choice... the oreo cookie pie... still not SO out of the question because of its chocolate nature... and yet, it's Just Different Enough that it deserves a second look... oreo? in a pie? amazing! what will they think of next! it's chocolate, and it's oreos, and it's pie all wrapped up into one unassuming deliciously irresistable little slice... but i know that it's EVEN WORSE for me... perhaps the most baddest thing on the menu. so here i am, looking... all american apples and ice cream or whipped cream, oreos, and chocolate? the waitress is going around the table... even as she takes the others orders, i'm flipping the page over and back trying to decide which i like better...apples! oreos! APPLES! OREOS! APPLES!! OREOS!!

in the end i got a buffalo chicken sandwich with french fries. but hey it wasn't bad. maybe i should keep my options open more often.
