the smell of freshly polished nails
there's just something so relaxing about painting your nails... relxaing and girly... AHHHHH. sometimes i just feel the need to be ultra girly... put on a little makeup, and some nail polish and enjoy being a GIRL. i mean, if this isn't what being a girl is all about what is? guys dont get to be pretty. i mean, that's like the one perk of being a girl, besides all that bearing children stuff... the chance to be pretty yourself up, unabashedly. heh. we can wear makeup to cover stuff up, and enhance things and hide things... guys do that and they get made fun of.... it's quite sad really.

but like i was saying. i find it really kind of nice to just paint my nails. it's almost ritualistic-- i cut them all short (i used to let them grow out a little so they'd be extra pretty--i can't anymore because i dont want them to hurt in hankido) then i put on a clear base coat... then i pick out a color... i have a lot... something like 22 different colors. i have sparkly ones, and light ones, and super dark ones, and a few blue and green ones, for when i really feel adventurous. for the most part i have lots of bottles of polish that span the spectrum of pinks and purples. but anyways. i use two coats of color. unless it's getting goopy. then i only use 1. then i follow with 2 clear coats of nail polish. AHHH.

now the hardest part-- waiting for them to dry while i do other things... like type! i dont think i have ever had a polishing session where all of my nails came out satisfactory the first time... i'm too impatient, i'll start typing, or reach or something and suddenly -- MOOSH, or DINK, and the polish is pushed across my nail or there is a huge dent in it (because of using so many coats). so i go back... color coat, then clear coat, then dryyyyy.....i think they come out nice in the end. and it IS relaxing. really.
