pins and armbars and chokes --oh my! on sunday i had the pleasure of working with george, black belt hankido-ist extraordinaire-- and my old PE instructor. MAN am i sore today. i must've taken one armbar too many, cuz my left elbow feels just a wee bit tweaked and no sir, i dont like it-- not one bit. on the bright side, i can kinda sorta maybe see an armbar coming... which means i can protect myself a wee bit better... GOODSHIET. hopefully i will get to a point where i might actually be able to have the upper hand in a ground fight. unfortunately my small size and inexpereince tell me i'm FAR FAR FAR from getting to that point. for now at least. ^_^ learned: - it's good to keep arms near the body so they dont get away front you - it's also very bad to straighten out your arms, or reach for things, such as collars, as they allow for easy transition into an armbar - being in the guard position is not good. it can be semi-okay if you're fighting with rules, but it's not a position you want to stay in if you're in a real fight thus, - get out of the guard as soon as you can - put your weight on the other persons body, while keeping your center of mass as far away from theirs as possible - cover as much space as you can with your legs (spread 'em --that sounds so bad) so the person underneath can't move as well - attack gaps - relax - RELAX - RELAX posted by tha muce
